The Birdcage Tavern
One of Auckland's most historic gastropubs, dating to 1865 and famously relocated 40 metres on its foundations in 2010 to make way for the Victoria Park Tunnel. The Birdcage welcomes dogs inside the bar and out in its large north-facing beer garden, where craft beers, excellent pub meals, and a relaxed neighbourhood vibe make it a favourite with locals. Stained glass windows, original brick walls, and giant Jenga add to the charm.

A great local located in the Victoria Park precinct, next door to the VP Market. Plenty of parking, huge venue with a great menu of food and drinks. Whether you are looking for a local to catch up in, or hire a private venue, this staple is one to have on the list to visit and frequent.
The venue is fantastic, with a large bookable space. The whole night was super smooth and easy. Staff were very helpful. Food and beer were excellent. Definitely recommend.
I would wholeheartedly recommend booking your function here! The process was made super easy by quick and efficient communication from Phil. The venue has a great feel and vibe to it, it's in a beautiful historic building! It boasts fantastic indoor and outdoor spaces, perfect for large events!
